Day 1548

Had to go into town, so decided to measure the distance on my bike between here and C's new place. 1.7 miles, slightly further than M's but all uphill.

In Wilton Books I found a book with the Java compiler on CD. It needs Windows 95. I went to the computer shop, Office World and the new Staples on the site of Homebase to compare prices. Eventually got it on credit card from Staples for £77. Got home and plunged into a saga of phone calls to Compuserve Technical Support - WinCIM would not work with Windows 95. Packed it in about 7pm and reinstalled it.

Strangely, no-one has reported a similar problem. Lucky they've got an 0800 number.

Took a break in the afternoon, brought my radio outside and listened to the test match.

Massive thunderstorm 6.45-8pm, very exciting.
